Default Mummy/Mummy Returns not playing?

Did a search but couldn't find an existing thread, so I apologize if this has been asked already.

I bought both Mummy movies on Blu-Ray, but neither will play on the Sony player I purchased a few months back. Is anyone else having this problem? Is this something that can be solved by doing a firmware upgrade?

EDIT: My apologies--just found the Mummy master thread. I'll post this there instead. Moderator can delete this thread---thanks!

To answer your question anyways, make sure you have the latest firmware version on your player. They both play perfectly fine on my PS3.

You probably need the 3.9 Firmware upgrade from Sony.

I started to watch The Mummy one night and stopped it half way through. The next night I went to play the movie and my blu-ray player kept freezing right before the first loading screen. I rebooted it a few times and updated to firmware to the latest version but still nothing. I through in a DVD and that played without any trouble. Then I put the mummy back in and it played on the first try. I would recommend trying that. I have the Sony BDP-S1 player.

Not yet...was wondering if that might solve the problem.

If you ever run into any playback problems, its always best to make sure you are using the newest firmware. Even if that isnt the problem, at least you can check that off the list of potential problems.

Why are there so many problems with the PS3 Blu-Ray player for everyone?

I have the Sony S300 as well, but have not yet done a firmware update. That's probably why I'm running into a problem.

Question

I've never ever had a single problem with my PS3 as a video game system or Blu player, EVER! I don't understand why so many people do? I've been able to play every game and blu I own or have rented.

Maybe the PS3 is intimidated by your yelling while telling a story so it forces itself to play everything. ( You know, like your LARGE font size)
