Default HDMI Cable Problem

I'm having a problem getting my Blu-ray movies to play on my TV. I can see my desktop and anything else when it's connected, but it won't let me play movies. I have a Sony VAIO FZ series, forgot which model exactly.

Information that might help you guys help me:

I am using InterVideo WinDVD BD for VAIO.
Description of my new HDMI cables bought from Meritline. "15 Feet HDMI 1.3b TO HDMI 1.3b A/V Cable For HDTV, PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360, 28 AWG Cable, Gold Plated Connectors, Support 720P, 1080P and 1600P HD Resolution" for $8.99
My TV's highest resolution is 720p, but my laptop is 1080p. Not sure if the difference could cause problems?

This is the error message I get:

"Your display environment does not support protected content playback."

Before I get that, it shows info saying playback might be delayed or something. It also says make sure I have new newest firmwire updates for my player. But it didn't seem like an error message, just random info before the movie started. Could it be my player? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. I hope this is the right forum to post this in. I thought it might apply to a few different sections

The problem is your television. It is not HDCP compliant, so it cannot display Blu-ray. Sorry, but you need a new TV.

Ah ok thanks. That's really a bummer for me because I'll be a freshman in a college dorm and I don't want to upgrade my TV for that. I guess I'll be watching them on a 17' screen for quiet awhile!

Correction, it's not your laptop, it's your video card. If it is upgradable it may be possible to use the laptop, if it is not then yes it is your tv, and or both.

yeah I don't think its the TV, as Sony has been implementing HDCP for a few years now.
