there might be threads when it was announced a while back, but the specs and cover art have literally just been announced so I think it warranted a new thread?

don't see how it hurts seeing as there's no Iron Man thread that's been posted on for weeks

2 discs, Let me get this straight, I thought the reason for having a 50GB disc was to be able to fit all the features combined with better PQ and audio. Now don't get me wrong, I am in awe after finding out that this blu ray comes with all those features but is this the first blu ray to have a 2 disc special edition?!?!

I think there's a few 2-discers out there.
Like you said, the Pirates sequels definitely are.

The features on Iron Man are insane. All in HD as well
Raises the bar high for all the other summer movies whose specs and dates etc are starting to trickle in.

Wonder if Indiana Jones will be announced today/tomorrow after this from Paramount? Wouldn't surprise me

Audio will be terrible, Dobly TrueHD is the worst I've found out of hi def audio codecs. Where is 7.1? The Transformers audio will kill this.

I dont think so ,come on dont judge on Something havent released or heard it.Transformers will be Dolby THD and new encode supervised by the director .Paramount are doing great titles with DolbyTHD,their bit rate is slightly higher than others.

Just because it is not 7.1? The sound quality is the same either way, the experience may differ, but not much.

So... you've already heard the blu-ray audio mix for this and Transformers? There's absolutely nothing wrong with Dolby TrueHD. With all of the extras and the (hopefully) excellent PQ, choosing the smaller filesize of TrueHD is a good compromise. Please, stop making these kinds of posts until you hear/see it for yourself.

That's not the point of the BD50. The point is greater storage. If that storage is used up, why try and cram more extras on it? At that point, the bitrate of the film's video and audio could begin to suffer.

I have absolutely no problem with multi-discs with tons of features. My problem lies where they try to stuff too much on and the feature suffers for it. If they had NO features but great PQ/AQ- then personally, I'm happy with the release. If they have a ton of features that's great too as long as the film doesn't lack due to it.

A very good answer... Again they can fit it on a single dual layered BD-50 but we got the extras in standard definition and not HD.I dont have any problems with 2 disks or 3 disks if the PQ or SQ of the feature doesnt suffer........

I'm not enough of a compressionist (as in, I'm a stupid layman) to even begin to answer if it would fit or not. I'm guessing however that it would not and hence why we're getting multiple discs. By the way, a single layer is a BD25, dual layer is a BD50.
