Default Panasonic DMP-BD10 Blu-ray Player discontinued...what am I missing

Pretty much that's it. My BD player is discontinued. So, apart from the "IN MOVIE" feature, what else am I missing? And most importantly, is it necessary to change the unit already?

I don't think so, since the players have been going through updates and changes that indicate that the technology is still far from solid. So I better wait...

But I want to know your say in this matter...

You are missing:

Profile 1.1 (Bonus View or IME) functions as you already noted
Profile 2.0 (BD-Live) functions
Decoding or bitstreaming of DTS HD MA
Bitstreaming of TrueHD
1080p/24 output

You do have one feature with the BD10 that no other player has: DVDA support.

It's still a good player-- I still get good use out of it despite upgrading to another player and having a PS3.

Go Cubs!

It definitely was one of the better early generation BD players. I heard it had very good build quality.

Definitely not necessary to replace yet, unless you need one of the features Brain Sturgeon mentioned.

Being discontinued doesn't mean much in Blu-ray world. It seems like Samsung has been discontinuing players before they're even readily available. The Panny BD10 doesn't have many issues with title compatibility, and is still very much supported by Panasonic. In fact they just put out a new firmware update a week ago.

If the OP is asking about the missing features that could be provided by future firmware, note that Profile 1.1 and 2.0 cannot be upgraded via firmware for this player anyway, nor I think the third and fourth feature. Not sure about the last. And what about the LFE bug I read about: has it been fixed yet?
