Default Best Places to Rent Movies

I'm sure this has been discussed before, and i used the search function, but its not very good so i couldn't find anything...

What are the best places to rent movies from? Like Blockbuster, Netflix, etc...I will definately be mainly rending Blu-rays, but maybe the occasional DVD. So I'm just basically looking into some input from people that use this stuff, and how it works. Montly fee, unlimited movies correct? Send it back and get a new one?

Thanks for the help

BTW, this is from Netflix's website, i noticed as i'm doing some research:

"Netflix carries nearly 900 Blu-ray DVDs"

Get it RIGHT people!

I prefer Blockbuster Total Access because you can return them in-store and get a free in-store rental. I do the three at a time with unlimited in-store returns. I average 48 rentals a month for around $37. I don't have cable or sat and this keeps me plenty occupied and I get to see everything I want to see on my schedule.

Netflix! I think that I've been to a video store twice since I subscribed over three years ago, and that was to look at their used movie selection.

I've been using Netflix for around 5-6 years now. They do pretty well, the selection is fantastic, and turnaround time is usually pretty quick.

Usually I'll only go to Blockbuster to rent PS3 games.

for blu-rays i will go to blockbuster....im thinking about picking up Netflix in the winter when i'll have more time to watch movies. For Video Games and older DVD's i go to Family Video. 2 dvd's for a buck! 5 nights for 6 bucks on 360, PS3, and Wii games!

I've used both Netflix and Blockbuster. I had Netflix first and then chose Blockbuster once I saw that they were offering unlimited in store exchange for movies. I had it for a couple months and then they increased my monthly price and took away unlimited in store exchange (cutting it down to 5 a month). They didn't even grandfather in the loyal customers who had been using the service for months. Not only was I going to pay more money for less movies, but the Blockbuster service was much worse. They also didn't have as many titles to select from, and a majority of the titles in my queue were listed as "very long wait". Even when I got my movies, it would take way too long for them to ship the next ones once I sent the others back (even if I returned them in store). I complained about this and they basically told me that Fridays are busy and I dont think they work on Saturday, so essentially they were shipping movies 4 days a week, limiting me to 3 movies a week (for the majority of the time) + 5 in store exchanges a month, and I wouldn't be surprised if they jacked up the prices again.

Netflix is cheaper, has a much better selection and quantity of movies, and if I send out a movie on Monday I'll have the next ones at my house on Weds.

I used Redbox. They are like an ATM for dvds at a cost of $1 a day. www.redbox.com I dont rent much so when i have the need for a movie i just head on over to the nearest one a couple blocks away.

+1 to the OP for this thread, ive always used hollywood video because its right around the corner. ive always wondered about the online services but was too lazy to look into it (order online and have it delivered to my front door sounds right up my alley huh?), i think im gonna give netflix a try, thanks everyone for the opinions

well i live in a small town thats far away from any place that i could rent movies, so everything has to be through mail.

Does Blockbuster or Netflix have a better Blu-ray selection? I figure those are my only options.

I couldn't agree more. These are my thoughts exactly. I've been with Netflix for 2 years now, and I don't ever think about switching anymore. The service has always been good; the prices are very reasonable compared to Blockbuster; the selection is far greater if you enjoy indie flicks.

5 or more years ago, who would have ever thought a rental service through the mail would have picked up so much steam? It's not hard to believe anymore considering how ridiculously priced ONE two-day (in store) rental from Blockbuster is. I didn't have time to rent movies at all mostly during college so once I graduated, I went to Blockbuster one day and picked up 4 movies for the weekend for $20 bucks! I pay that same price for a month at Netflix and still get 3 movies every week. Plus, I wouldn't really need to take advantage of the in-store Blockbuster switch because I only really sit down to watch movies during the weekend anyway. I usually send my Netflix rentals back on Monday, and get the next batch on Wed/Thu and they wait for me until I'm ready for the weekend.
