Very well made (technically) but pretty unimaginative.
So it's The Riddler as just a rehash of the Joker? I did hear one interesting suggestion; that Riddler (or, potentially, any other villian) could be done as someone completely offscreen until the end (as with Se7en) That actually could work nicely. Brings the emphasis firmly back to Batman for the last film of the trilogy, and avoids the issue of trying to top Ledger's Joker. I still say, though, do something about the frankly pathetic (for different reasons) deaths of Ra's Al Gul and Two-Face. Batman's killing of Ra's Al Gul needs to be addressed in one of the sequels (I'm fine with Batman killing someone, but not when it's written off so lamely "I'm not going to kill you, I'm just going to leave you rushing to your death on this speeding train (which I just ensured cannot be stopped)") As for Two-Face, again, given the circumstances I think Batman killing him is fine (in this case, I think the writers will actually address that) but it's just such an unconvincing death-scene. Batman 3 needs to either bring back Two Face, or Nolan needs to do a tiny little bit of tinkering with Part II (some well-placed CGI blood) for a more conclusive death. |

we'll its impossible to bring back two-face....according to the actual script, the Nolans wrote "There lies Two-face. One eye wide open and his neck, twisted and broken. DEAD!"..... this was posted by IGN the other day..... we dont need blood when someone dies....plus it wasnt that far of a drop that blood is needed to emphasive it....the nolans still like to keep it in reality....from that height, a broken neck is likely and will kill you....the only scence that actually needed blood was during the Joker getting his ass kicked in the interagation room. |

The producer was talking about Two-Faces' death being ambiguous enough to bring him back if they wanted. Besides that, I think the reason for the scene where he drops the gangster off the building, breaking his leg, and the reason for Batman falling (and living) right after Two-Face, was meant specifically for foreshadowing purposes to bring him back later. It would be the first time in a Batman movie (exception being Scarecrow's brief cameo in Dark Knight) a villain made a return in a sequel. |
