Thanks but our postal service is pretty dam good and not effected by the Olympics in enyway, the only thing i can think of is the recent typhoon we had, but still that should not of held things back more than a day or so.

This release just demonstrates how to annoy the customer. Just four months after the initial 2-disc DVD release, there comes not only the BD (without the postcard-book in the DVD) but also the 3-DVD edition. I believe they are all the same cuts.

The other criticism is the rather bland English title, which does not really convey what the film is about, whereas the three words of the Chinese title do precisely.

I notice that

Good catch. Perhaps the director intent was to watch that scene through a mirror.

I would like to make one suggestion regarding the review:

According to the back of my BD cover and the user screenshots shown in this thread, The Warlords has 3 Mandarin audio options:

7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio
7.1 Dolby TrueHD
5.1 Dolby Digital

The review omits the mention of the TrueHD track. It may be a deciding factor for someone who wishes to import the title and does not have DTS-HD MA decoding capabilities, etc.

You are either misreading what the back cover of your disc indicates OR holding a brand new release of this film. As the review indicates the only 7.1 track is the DTS-HD Master mix. Could you double check (I recommend double-checking the audio menu)

edit:
I just saw the audio menu cap above. This is very strange as I don't remember my disc having a Dolby True HD 7.1 track. This cover is identical to the one I had.

The poster above mentions Dolby True HD 7.1 track being announced on the back cover of his disc. Mine did not have such as your photo reveals. And while I pointed to the menu cap I don't have the disc with me anymore to confirm. So, at this point no one is arguing whether or not the Dolby True HD track is being offered on one of these releases (I received two discs as one of them was apparently delayed).

Hmmm... that's odd. The front cover on my copy is exactly the same as yours, but the back is different. I find it strange that there would be a different release so quickly. Perhaps you got a screener disc?

No, I actually got two different discs as the first was delayed. Both of those were market-copies and there was most definitely nothing mentioned on the back cover regarding a Dolby-True HD 7.1 track (just as the cover indicates above). I also don't have the discs with me anymore but the first one came with a slip and the second did not. I reviewed the first one and find it very odd that I would not have Dolby True HD track as I usually compare them on other releases. And the fact that you have a different back cover is even more puzzling.

I just watched the film a few days ago and I can confirm the 7.1 TrueHD Mandarin track in addition to the DTS-HD MA. Along with top-notch PQ and an interesting story, I was rather impressed. It was a fine addition to Red Cliff, which I also picked up. Now off to watch Exiled

I almost ordered this Blu ray from amazon UK after reading the review here but noticed that the format is listed as PAL on the specs in amazon. My question is whether it will play on my US panasonic blu ray player BD10A? I am based in US. Pardon my ignorance and thanks in advance.

Hello,

Please ignore Amazon's PAL listing (I am unsure why they keep doing this, but it seems like they are using generic listings for most everything).

To answer your question - yes, the disc is Region-Free and it will work on your US Panasonic (you won't be able to access the extras though since they are in standard-def PAL).
