Has anyone seen a review for this movie. Im debating whether to buy or rent this one. Im in the minority here, but I really liked the original Scorpion King and I loved it when it came out on bluray. Anybody out there gonna be picking this movie up.

And I thought that the first one was a bad enough mistake!
The original Mummy movie actually became worse for me because of its own sequel. Bringing these lame spin-offs out has made me LOATH the franchise. And, the trailers look horrible for this sequel. |

With that said, it's a pretty fun movie to see just by itself, not trying to connect or compare it to the "real" Mummy movies. As for The Scorpion King 2, I highly doubt I'll see the direct-to-BD sequel to a spin-off of a sequel. The spin-off was pushing it as it was, but wth this it's gone over the cliff. ![]() |

he was a three-time Olympic team alternate (1988, 1992 and 1996); a semifinalist at the 2000 Olympic Trials; a three-time National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division-I All-American and a two-time NCAA Division-I runner-up at Oklahoma State University .... yeah sounds to me like he's just some stooge that gets punched in the face.............

I hated the first movie. Only reason I will be checking out the sequel will be because Couture is in it. But unless I'm able to get it cheap, I'll most likely just Netflix it.

So I blind bought it today, watched it a couple hours ago. As a whole, I don't regret it.
At $30, it's certainly pricey, and most people will feel ripped off at this price. You're paying for the movie and nothing else, no trailers, no features, no commentary... You get the picture. I'll give my brief thoughts below: The Movie The movie itself is what I expected it to be. If you liked the first movie, you'll probably find some redeeming factors in this one too (although this one is worse, no doubt). The movie is reminiscent of the Xena and Hercules TV shows of the 90's, so if you liked those, add another positive to this movie. While there are times that the movie drags, due to poorly written dialogue, the action is reasonably exciting. Sets and costumes seem to be reused from the sets of The Mummy and the original Scorpion King, which is not a bad thing at all. Still, the movie starts out at it's best and goes down from there. The Picture For most of the movie, the colors are bright, and the picture remains sharp and vibrant. It never pops off the screen, but it's clearly high definition. There is a labyrinth sequence in the middle of the movie that is excessively grainy, although I think this is to blame more on the actual print rather than the encode. It's not a knock your socks off transfer, but there are no glaring problems with it either. Almost the very definition of average. The Audio Man, the soundtrack in this movie is awful. Again, I think the film itself is to blame, but much of the dialogue seemed muddled, and more often than not it seems to be coming from a microphone in post production rather than "in the moment." Aside from the muddled voices, they also tend to be too quiet at times, forcing me to turn the volume up and down as the voice level goes up and down. This is probably not a fault of the BD. Overall Not a scientific review by any means, but neither is the movie. It's schlocky action, a horrible movie that you have to go in ready to laugh at it's failures. Sure, it was bad, and yeah, I spent $30 on it, but I did enjoy it. Cheesy one liners, a hot babe, tough dudes, yeah I'm sold. Not theater worthy, not buy-worther for most, but a good way to kill a couple hours. |
