Question Projector for 40" by 80" screen

Have a friend who just bought a Drive In old type theater. He want a high end projector that will put a picture 300" feet away on a 40" screen. Any ideas or info out there?

you mean 300 feet as in 300', not 300 inches as 300"?

and 40' x 80' screen? (40 feet x 80 feet)

Try Sony's professional projectors:

I'm sorry. I meant 40ft by 80 ft and 300ft distance.

That's a peculiar screen AR (2:1) given that most movies today are 1.85:1 or 2.37:1.

He might want to look into Christie projectors:

www.christiedigital.com

They've got a couple of DLP projectors that will probably fit the bill. Assuming that you're filling the height of the screen with a 16:9 image, the throw ratio is around 4.2. They've got a couple of long throw lenses that will probably work in that application (3.0-4.3:1 or 4.3-6.0:1).

What does he plan on using this projector for? Opening a Drive-in or personal use? He should contact some professionals in the field.
