Default Are you rather Google or Yahoo ?

I was wondering what search engine you guys preferred.
Personally I used to prefer Yahoo and it is still my browser's homepage out of habit I guess. But this past year I have begun Googling more and more out of new habits.

The thing I'm hating about Yahoo is when you start typing in your browser's url, Yahoo forces you into its search engine and that really gets on my nerves.
The other thing I hate about Yahoo is whenever it puts some big news on the homepage for example: "Scientists discovered something in space, click here to see what it is" well when you click there, there is a whole bla bla before getting to the point, sometimes you must look for some not so obvious link to get the info and all that is aggravating IMO.

So in conclusion I used to be a Yahoo fan but even though I keep them as homepage I always google whenever I need info

I detest Google and the way it's search engine operates.

I'm all about Yahoo.

As for what you said about your browser's URL...I don't see how that can be happening. You've got me at a loss....

Well the highjacking of the URL seems to have stopped. Maybe Firefox 3 fixed the problem or maybe Yahoo realized it was annoying but a few months ago it was clearly an issue, whenever i tried to type in the URL the stuff I typed automatically moved down to the search engine of Yahoo whenever I was on the Yahoo homepage. I'm sure there must be others who experienced that inconvenience

To be honest, I am liking Google less every time I see some garbage hit at the top of a page because that company paid money... Has nothing to do with my search, but there they are taking up the first 5 pages of the search....

What do you detest about it, though?

I agree with you about the paid search results.

Plus, once you can get through the sponsored results, I find most of the results to be junk. The Google search engine displays results based on what is most common. Well, I want to find what I'm looking for - not what others are looking for.

I use Google so I don't have to deal with all the spam and adverts on other search engines.

However, I despise Google for all the "Would you like to install the google tool bar" crap that is in almost all freeware now (see all adobe products). I hate any extra tool bars. Especially the Google one.

I have gmail, rarely use it as I don't like being archived and spied on. The only Google thing I use is Google earth. Other than that, nothing. I think Google is getting too big for it's britches.

It has some really neat features that Google Earth doesn't have. A lot of gun...and a great way to fight off boredom.

Enjoy!

The good thing with Firefox is that it has both at the upper right corner and they don't take the whole space that standard bars take

Yahoo! is too web 1.0 and the homepage is clucky.
Live's search algorithm is screwed up badly, there's basically no relevancy.
Google is just awesome.

I haven't used Yahoo regularly in over a decade. I am happy with Google, though you really have to know all the power user tricks to maximize its utility. Here's another type of search engine:

yeah....thats funny, huh?

Even though I hate Google's politics and how it drives the companies decisions...I use it. Its the best one out there.

It just drives me nuts how they still refuse to honor certain holidays with their nameplate....but, refuse to admit it is because of their founders beliefs...
