New forum opinions.

I am suggesting a new forum. I dont know how hard it would be to incorporate, but thinking about it rarely hurts anything.

Name: "Topic of the Week"

Uses: A place where subjects that are being discussed ad nauseam can be moved, without disrupting the thread titles and flow, to keep them from clogging up the most used forums. A general forum to put thread until the hype dies down

Community Advantage: Forum members who do not like to see a dozen WB/TDK/Iron Man/Mummy threads don't have to see them at all, because the boards are not clogged with irrelevant stickies. People who are interested in the subject still have access to the large selection of thread topics.

Moderator Workload: No additional workload. Rather than "merge" threads that pop up, the active moderator will just move a thread.

Location: Just below or above "Off Topic"; The forum could be filled with threads from any other forum that the MODs feel are being abused.



The reasons I like this idea are that

1. I dont like to have the same topic discussed 5 times on the front page, making it hard to find worthwhile threads.

2. I dont like to have to scroll through stickies of the subject just to get to the worth while threads.

3. I understand that if there is a group of people wanting to discuss the latest big thing, there will be plenty of people who will read and use the forum, and the new forum will give them a place to avoid flames from irritated users, and give the threads a place where no one has to seem them unless they choose.

4. There is never a lack of hyped up subjects that clog the boards. Every few weeks a new subject takes over as the topic that wont go away.

BTW, I posted the poll to guage the felling of people. Thanks for voting even if you dont agree! It would not be the first time I am wrong... It would be the first time I was right, though

The megathreads sometimes kill the intention of the original thread. It happened with the WB poll that was linked from an external site. It then became a mega junk thread that killed the topic. I think there should be a little more discression when making megathreads and actually reading the thread instead of going "Oh there's a WB and there's another WB, merge."

Having the hype forum would alleviate this problem, and those people who whine about "There's too many threads for this one topic" can just avoid that forum. Hopefully something like this will cut down on a lot of the flaming posts, and fights starting over pretty useless stuff.

or like i suggested in the other thread, when you go to page 2, make the stickies not appear

One was a discussion to discuss an idea...

The other is a poll to guage the feeling of the community with a thought out opinion. Do you flame here because my opinions scare you or something?

Ease back and try not to post your lame flames in my thread, ok? Just avoid it if you dont like it. You voted, and so your opinion has been noted.

I'd like to bring this up again, as it seems there's a new trend of people posting bragging about films and games they got early. I think that'd be a perfect topic to toss into a "Hot Topics" forum, or even Off Topic.
