Default Receiver and speaker question.

Alright, a week or so ago I asked about a HTiB, and was promptly told not to get one. So now, on the other end of the spectrum, I have decided I want to do this once and not do it again for a long time.

Anyways, my question is, how important is it to match speakers with a receiver? I have seen some people ask how speakers sound with certain receivers, and that is why I wanted to ask this. Are there some speakers that just go really well with certain receivers than they would with others? Or are the speakers themselves the main thing that determine how they sound?

If you are wondering, I already have a receiver, the Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH.

Not terribly important..... Separates are very important to match, because although the audio characteristics are "different" the fact that it's such a major investment leads people to carefully pair their gear to speakers.

At the risk of being attacked by the masses..... I'd say because of the receiver you have, I don't think you should limit your selection or eliminate any type or brand of speaker

I agree, it is not that important to match speakers to a reciever. Get whatever speakers sound good to you. There is not a whole lot of sound variation between receivers anyway. The big differences in recievers are THD and power supply with all channels driven. You can put almost any speaker with any receiver, just make sure the resistance (ohms) are compatible.
