Default Bad Connection?

I just got a new Panasonic Viera LCD and was trying to take it easy and use some Bose Companion Speakers and hooks them up via the headphone jack. However, when I do this they do not get very loud at all. I am using this in my own bedroom so I dont need another 5.1 or 7.1 system just for my bedroom. So my question is, is there anyway to fix the output sound so its loud through the Bose? Even turning the tv all the way didnt do the trick...

My other question is, if this will not work what is a good sounding cheap system for my bedroom?

i wouldnt suggest using the headphone output jack, try using the rca out from the back of the tv,you have the correct adaptor rca to 3.5mm
