Default Blu-ray playing software for WinXP x64?

This looks like an old horse, but I'll beat it again.
(because someday the answer will change)

Does anyone know of software which will run under WinXP 64 bit, which can be used to play Blu-ray disks or files?

(I have found that AnyDVD HD will rip a Blu-ray to my hard disk. Plus I have a note from Cyberlink that nothing of theirs is supported under 64bit Win XP. This includes PowerDVD naturally.)

Please also post if you know of a piece of software which definitely will NOT work under WinXP x64. That will save me time from going down more dead ends.

Cheers

Umm... PowerDVD 7.3 works great on my Vista x64 and my XP x64 machines. It may not be listed as supported, but it does work. There is no 64-bit version, however. You just use the 32-bit installer and you're good.

Default PowerDVD

I also have PowerDVD 7.3.
But I can't get it to work.
It complains about 'cannot initialize secure display session', and says the problem is:
Incompatible graphics driver (it's not)
or Do not use clone mode (I'm not)

You've probably manage to install some little piece of code, somewhere.

Thanks though

I've got PowerDVD 7.3 3319a working on XP x64 but i used VGA not DVI. AnyDVDHD should remove the HDCP handshake problem (unless it dosn't work on x64 systems??). What graphics card are you using? ATI's don't work correctly with HDCP unless you have Catalyst drivers 8.2 or above and 8.6 is decidely dodgy on XP (x86 or x64).

Oh and Total Media Theatre REALLY doesn't like ATI under XP (x86). I downloaded the trial last week and every time i tried to run it - it reset my PC!

Ah-ha! You've left out an important piece of information! You're using either an non-HDCP-compliant video card (unlikely) or monitor (much more likely). In that case, you'll need to switch to VGA. If this is not possible, then AnyDVD HD is the way to go. I currently have AnyDVD HD running on my XP and Vista machines because I have sync issues with one monitor and the other monitor is not HDCP-compliant. Works great on both x64 machines.

I may have to do the AnyDVD HD option but is there playback software that give my BD-Live playback with full HD audio support and ignores HDCP so I can just watch my movies? I have powerDVD 7.3, but it wants an add-on to support the 5.1 speakers I have to it downconverts it to stereo and then emulate 6 channel audio from the stereo. I just want to have fully Blu-ray support HDCP be damned and I want to hear the audio as it's on the disc.

HDCP is an encrypted channel and is a requirement of the software vendors licensee's so you wont get a program without it.

PowerDVD 7.3 Ultra, WInDVD9 Plus or Total Media Theatre will do full audio codecs - sounds like the version you have beta-guy is not the ultra version so you will need to upgrade to one of the previously mentioned versions.
