Default under scan on movies using 1.1 mapping!

hy there every one, i was just curious but do any of you get underscan while imploying 1.1 mapping. i have a samsung and when i use 1.1 mapping (just scan) on the sammy it actually shows to much picture, on the right of the screen theres a little black border where the image doesent quite reach the bezzel,
i have noticed this on a few blu rays but was just watching Die hard 4 and the black bar on the right of the screen was about half an inch thick.
this really got on my nerves so switched to 16x9 to watch the movie.
any one ellse experience this?

Put up the resolution test pattern on Sony BDs.

This is how it should look like with the arrows showing the edges of the image

thanks lucy! yeagh i would sick with 16x9 but you get better detail with just scan, you see the whole image as the director intended.
the only problem is with some movies you see to much image, not quite seeing the whole screen.
appreciate the welcome though!

yeagh ive done that test pattern, as i said most blu rays are fine, but i did notice it on die hard 4, perfect from the left of the screen but doesent quite make it all the way across, about half inch gap there.
oh by the way my screen is callibrated to d65 greyscale so its all set up properly.

thanks anyway!

Well if the pattern reaches all the way <- -> then it's the DH4 disc, unless it's some analog/cable/connection stage between the player and the display I would think.

Some BDs don't reach the full edges , for example see the review of Road Warrior, etc

on my sammy DLP LEd, you can move the screen left or right (up and down as well). I noticed you state you get a slight underscan on the right. So does that mean you get a slight overscan on the left as you don't mention that side being underscanned. When i ran HD DVD blu-ray calibration disc mine was slightly off center when in the just scan mode and i had to shift my image a little to center it properly. I don't like 16x9 as quite a bite of the image is cut off. I would think your sammy tv might have that unless it is an older model.

hy there slaizer, no, no underscan on the left but underscan on the right.
its funny cos most blu ray movies go nearly all the way across and all my ps3 games fit the entire screen, its just the odd movie.
no my samsung is one of the newer models its a 100 hz not 120 hz because im in the uk pal etc, it has 24p capability to, i dont have a screen udjust on mine to move the image acrooss though!
