"PCM over optical will only allow stereo playback. Only HDMI supports 5.1 PCM audio."
Can someone clarify this. So, PCM will play via optical, right? But only in PCM 2.0, right? I'm getting 6.4 Mbps on my PS3 when I use PCM 5.1 (blu-ray) to my Denon (LPCM setting, not bitstream) using toslink. If I used HDMI and my receiver supported say, HDMI 1.1, would that mean that the two channels coming from the PCM 5.1 would be the same Mbps as PCM optical? Or would it be higher? What I mean is. Is the PCM 5.1 main speaker audio any better than the main speaker 2.0 PCM audio via optical? Last edited by digital.view; 02-24-2007 at 07:23 PM. |
