Default Looking for books to take to Iraq.

Going to Iraq early next year and expect to do a lot of reading. I have a list of books I am interested in and thought perhaps some of you might own some of them and would be willing to sell. The books are, (in no particular order):

"Ripples of Battle" - Victor Davis Hanson
"...And a Hard Rain Fell" - John Ketwig
"Easy Company Soldier" - Don Malarkey and Bob Welch
"Call of Duty" - Lynn Compton
"Company Commander" - Charles B. MacDonald
"Antietam: The Soldiers' Battle" - John Michael Priest
"American Hidden History" - Kenneth C. Davis
"Overlord" - Max Hastings
"General Lee's Army: From Victory to Collapse" - Joseph Glatthaar
"American Creation" - Joseph Ellis
"Brothers in Battle, Best of Friends" - Robyn Post
"The Downhill Lie" - Carl Hiaasen
"House to House" - David Bellavia and John Bruning
"1001 Nights in Iraq" - Shant Kenderian
"Blood Makes the Grass Grow Green" - Johnny Rico
"The Assassins' Gate" George Packer
"Killer Elite" - Michael Smith
"Beyond Band of Brothers" - Cole Kingseed
"Presidential Leadership" - William J. Bennett
"Not a Good Day to Die" - Sean Naylor
"A Bloody Business" - Gerry Schumacher

I take a photo of the books I want when I'm at the bookstore and I can't buy them at that time. ...they've piled up. So if anyone has these and wants a little money for them perhaps we can work something out. I won't be able to purchase all and it depends on which book you have since I want some more than others. I'm pretty cheap unfortunately. Anyway, let me know. Thanks, guys.

Wow you are going to see the war and all that stuff. I'm impressed !
If I may ask you something I'm curious about: are you forced to go or is it a choice ?

Take care over there

I'm not a reader at all, other than graphic novels, but I burned through all seven Harry Potter books in about two months. Really superb writing and a great story. I felt a little silly reading them at first, but they really were awesome, and not just for kids at all.

America hasn't drafted soldiers since the 70's.

I know, you would think. I'm going to have a lot of time though and I already have a bunch of movies on a HDD I'm taking, but I'm interested in those books and thought it could be a good chance to get through some. They are mostly Revolution, Civil War, WWII, Vietnam era. Only a few Iraq which, you're right, I probably won't have a lot of desire to read when I'm actually there.

I was thinking about getting a PSP but I don't know. I'll have to look into the games it has. There is a new version coming out in October, so I will wait for that until at least then anyway.

In reading some of your last posts I'm starting to think that your view of America might be a little skewed. Let me help to clear some things up for you. We do not all have horns and fangs. some of us are fat but some are medium and some skinny. We do not all air our everyday problems on Maury Povich. American wrestling is fake. Not all of us have banged Paris Hilton.........Yet. You do not automatically die if you find yourself in our major cities after dark (even Detroit). While we really enjoy our 2nd amendment right we do not all walk around with guns shooting each other wild west style . We are not always rude slobs when we travel overseas. We are, for the most part, up to date on politics and world events. We just get a little cynical from time to time.....Just like you. For the majority of Americans we just go about our day trying to make a better way for our famlies......Just like you. Lastly, we don't force our citizens to serve their country. I could go on and on and try to illuminate you on the American way of life, but I think with how far off the mark you have been with some of your ideas you might want to come here and see for yourself.

Good call, the best series I have ever read, mixes a lot of different genres.
