Sony Hit With Patent Lawsuit Over Blu-ray

I just read an article stating Sony was hit with a patent infringement lawsuit over Blu-ray. It's over a patent filed in 1995 that sounds really vague in the article, the patent describes the creation of “an optical disk-shaped recording medium comprising a plurality of tracks”.

Hopefully this lawsuit will be tossed out or settled quickly, so Sony and other Blu-ray manufacturers can continue without legal hoops to jump through. I understand and appreciate the intent and purpose behind patents, copyrights, etc. However, when you can patent a broad and vague general idea, which on the surface it sounds like this is, it sickens me. It's like a three year old calling dibs on everything they touch.
