I had a Samsung with a similar issue. From what I understand, Sony and Samsung have the same panel manufacturer.
In my situation, there was nothing I could do to fix it. If you just bought it, bring it back to the store and exchange it, since most stores offer a 30 day exchange. If you can't do that, you have a 1 year manufacturers warranty. Call up Sony and get them to come take a look. They may need to replace the whole panel. |

This is so goddamn annoying. I bought my Dad a Samsung BD-P1600 for Christmas with a copy of Public Enemies. Told him how great it was gonna look. He'd already seen the standard def version and was looking forward to seeing it on Bluray.
Popped it in and almost immediately noticed the vertical lines. It's mostly noticeable in greys and earth tones. I've been reading this forum and I've tried everything to fix it. The display options on the TV ( a Panasonic TH-37PX60U) are very limited. It's not interference. When I pause the disc, they remain and it's not something inherent in the film itself. It's definitely a 1080p issue as I switched the settings to 1080i and the lines were gone - but the picture quality is obviously inferior. WTF? ![]() |
