Price of LG LGXBG420 Blu Ray Recorder - Blu-ray Forum

From what I'm reading the LG LGXBG420 will be the first Blu Ray Recorder available in the U.S, likely sometime this fall. My question, is it still expected to be out sometime this fall? As well, what is the price expected to be? I hope it's not $3500 like the Sony model in Japan and would love to see $1500 or lower but know that's being very hopeful.

No price has been announced yet. I'm hoping for $1500 or under as well. Hopefully we'll find out soon. It's funny that the press release info doesn't mention a price... it's as if they're too embarrassed to state it. :lol:

The LG is potentialy very promising feature-wise, looking at the 3410A functionality. They have very easy interface for transfer from DVHS to the HDD on the 3410A... hopefully it will be similarly easy to burn BD from DVHS tape with this recorder...

Sounds great. I have a DVHS and am building up quite a collection of HD content. I can't wait to go to some type of HD format and am favoring Blu-Ray. I would love it if I can easily copy content from DVHS to BD.

The price of Sony's BDZ-S77 has fallen to around $3,000 recently, and Panasonic's 50GB machine, the DMR-E700BD - is being launched this week at $2,780. The Panasonic includes 192kHz/24bit audio support, but it's not clear yet whether this is applied to the BDs or if it can only play DVDAs, for example. However, it can also record onto DVD-RAM, and offers all the usual DVD-RAM-type trick play functions with all types of BD.
