Double stack your movies with homemade separators. Easy to do!

We all do it. We double stack our movies on the shelving. Works fine until you pull out a bottom movie and the top ones fall in. I solved that problem. Make sure you have enough head room for the separators.

Go to Staples and buy the large mounting paper-foam boards. They are only 3/16" thick and come in black or white. I used white as I had it left over from another project. Don't use corrogated cardboard as that looks like crap. You can even use the thinner "pizza box" type cardboard. But I strongly suggest the paper-foam.

If you use a box cutter, use a brand new blade. Foam will pull and tear with a dull blade. An exacto-knife or other sharp cutter is better. You need some scrap cardboard to cut on. At least double deep. Now you need a long ruler or other guide.

The trick is to cut the foam 1/8" short of 5" deep. This gives your finger room to nudge the lower movies out. Cut to the width of your shelf + 1/16". This should give a nice snug fit. If the foam bows up, trim for an exact fit. If your shelf has room, you can even triple stack.

Viola! Pull out any movie you desire without the others tumbling in. It just so happens my Transformers DVD and blu-ray line up to each other.

We need to build a shrine for our beloved blu rays. Pehaps one of those fancy hutches you see at Dillards or Sax ! Then of course we have to have the proper spotlights and led lights to enhance the effect of our blu ray shrine. Oh yea, we also need an alarm system so those "meddling kids" don't get near any of them !

Perhaps if we would win the lottery we could use Waterford shelving to capture the light in a proper maner ! Ha ha !

When me space runs out which is only a matter of time. I think I will employ your shelving idea.

I could later. I only have one shelf of movies. I'm a movie minimalist. All you will see is a piece of foam between the DVD's and blu-rays. Hopefully I do no forget.

That sounds great! I started putting my dvds into binders to solve my shelving issue, but I will give yours a try.
