Default Crash on blu

Just curious as to why Crash has two different blu-ray covers. One with a silver spine and holographic lettering on the back, and one with a regular background. Do all blu-rays in the "silver-spine" style have two sets of covers? Such as Crank, War, or 3:10 to Yuma?

Lionsgate adopted the silver spine thing after they began putting out Blu-ray titles, so their first few movies (including 'Crash') didn't have one. But they went back and redid them all, so now, for those first eight (?) releases, you can find both kinds of packaging out there.

So are the rest going to be silver or regular? And what were their first 8 releases?

The only ones that were released without the silver banners were Crash, Terminator 2, Saw, The Punisher, and Lord of War. Then Lionsgate decided to stop releasing those titles without the banner and started releasing them with the silver. Any movie that Lionsgate released after those titles all have the silver banner. All of their future releases will probably have that silver banner on them too.

They're silver from here on out.

Looks like their initial releases were: 'Crash,' 'Lord of War,' 'The Punisher,' 'Saw,' and 'Terminator 2.' Those ones I know have either kind of cover, but I can't say for anything that came out later.

the original cover one for crash is annoying... it goes into some explanation about the popup menus and whatnot every time you put the disc in... because of that i've only watched it twice

So the different covers also mean slightly different blu-ray discs?

Lionsgate is actually getting rid of the (horrible) silver borders/spine.

From what I hear The Forbidden Kingdom was the first release like this.

Monster's Ball is another upcoming release:

Wasnt aware they got rid of that! Annoyed me too. Is it the same for Lord of War, The Punisher, Saw, etc?

I thought this would be a thread about the Cronenberg movie becoming available.
[Show spoiler]you get to see inside Holly Hunter in it.

Got any proof to back-up this claim?

I wonder if Lionsgate will re-print current art covers (without silver in the future). If so, this is GOOD and (bad for me) as I'll want to replace them. Maybe I'll sell the silver versions (at my cost) to friends as I find deals in the future and keep the newer versions for my collectsion.. Heck, Maybe I will rent them and swap out the cover art haha

Then again, they may keep everything with a silver spin as is... which is fine by me.

That's what I do with Greatest Hits PS2 games. If there's a cover you want, just buy em used and swap the covers then return it. It makes no difference to them or anyone else.
