Default What cable can I use to connect my ipod to receiver with no dock

I just set up my home theater on the weekend, but I don't have an ipod dock for my receiver. I'm having a party this friday and I need to connect the ipod to the receiver, but don't have enough time to wait for a dock to be shipped to me. Is there a cable I can use to connect the ipod to the receiver. By the way my receiver is a yamaha 6160 if that helps.

I think this is probably what you are looking for:

Check for compatability with your ipod though.

I just hooled up my 606 2 weeks ago . I was able to use a old 2 to 1 RCA jack ,that I used for my discman back in the day . I works great , I just hooked it up on the tape input area and press play on the ipod . I imagine this would work with any receiver . U can get one anywhere ,mines RadioShack .

Cool, I should be able to get one for cheap. Hopefully it'll work with my ipod classic. Thanks.

Just so you know, I think that you can transfer only sound through those cables (which is good enough in most cases). If you want to transfer your ipod screen to your tv. You need to buy the more expensive cable that plugs into the dock connector and has Component or Composite video jacks ($50).

Yeah that's what I thought I just want a cheap cable for audio just for now until I can get the better $50 cable or a dock, but the cheap rca/3.5mm cables I'm seeing at stores in my city are still around $25+

I'm thinking maybe I'll just go out and spend the $100 for this yamaha yds11 dock http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...99&catid=23080

I can get that dock on ebay for about $60 + shipping so I figure if I get a cheap cable now for $25 and then get the dock in the future for $60 + shipping I"m still paying the same price as I would if I just buy the dock at a store here in my city. Shitty, but oh well.

The 94thx comes with the fancy cable to directly connect to the ipod so you can get onscreen control, but no cradle/dock. whats up with that? granted this is no deal breaker on the 94. I priced the cradle and don't know why that little piece is so expensive.

I hate them, but goto RadioShack and you can get one for like 5 bucks. If they try to tell you to get the gold plated then tell them no. In fact, go find it yourself in the store because if they look for it they will get the gold plated one and tell you they don't have any others.
