In calgary and both BB and FS have release dates of Oct 21 as well as amazon.ca. This makes no sense so I ordered from amazon.con and will still receive a month before they drop here

... and most likely for a cheaper price as well!

Curious as to why the dates are over a month difference between canada and the states? Is there any reason for this? The money saved is a moot point. I would rather pay the same or a little more and have them in a couple of weeks as to waiting until Oct 21 for these two great movies. This is why I rarely purchase movies at BB or FS here in canada. I would rather wait the week or two from amazon and save myself the money and the hassle of going into these stores to see overpriced blu's or empty shelves.

I've gone to the states to get many movies before they're released here. For example, Silent Hill was one of the first movies every released on Blu and I have yet to see it for sale in Canada. Another that comes to mind is Van Wilder. I am also curious why some movies are released in the U.S. before Canada.

Yeah, doesn't make much sense. I ordered from Amazon.com also cause I ain't waiting an extra month and a half for a movie I've been dying to see high def.

I wish someone would get their shit together, our country is only above theirs. Must be so hard to release it in both Us and Canada at the same time.

PS. Silent hill on Blu? Never knew that. I may have to order that one also.

Ahhh cool. After reading some reviews it looks like the transfer to blu wasn't done well. Hopefully, they will put the time and money into making a proper copy. Just like Fifth Element.

It is only if you buy usually at least 3 or 4 titles because we pay like 7 - 8 bucks shipping plus $2 a movie which is kinda crazy. If shipping was lower, I would always order everything from amazon.

$5 per order plus $3 per title but the shipping is made up in the fact that there is no tax.

It's been delayed to October 21. Don't see why as Alliance (which releases for Miramax up here) usually doesn't change a thing for Canada (not even billingual packaging!). So, only ways to get it are order online, make trip to the states or wait until then.

Default Canada vs USA

Ok, it's a good tip to know where to buy (amazon.com)

But is there any differences between US and Canada BD releases ?

I mean sutff on the disc itself, is it always exactly the same ?

Thank you !

DJ Matt

Discs are the same. The labeling on the case is english only for most releases from the US. Canadian releases either have both english and french labelling on the package or an extra slip on the outside of the packaging that has french and english.

I prefer the english only packaging but of course I don't speak french.

Default Ok !

Ok good, thanks for quick answer.

I'm a French speaking person (from Quebec) but I really don't care about labels. It's a law in Canada, they don't have choice. But it's okay, as long as they can release it at the same time as in US

So it's good to know, I will now be able to track deals from US wesites as long as our dollar is strong !

Thanks again.

DJ Matt

usually when there are different dates it means different distributors, my guess it is released here by Alliance Atlantis (they tend to be the ones that have most of the smaller US labels). That being said, it could be the exact same content (with an extra sticker with their name) or something created by them (so some differences).
