I really liked the books, can't wait for Ink Death in October. Anyhow, this looks like it may be straying from the book somewhat.

This movie looks pretty good, they should have moved it up when Potter changed dates. I think it would have done well if they released it before Christmas with a big ad campaign, especially since Frasier has had a good summer with two $100 million dollar hits. I think this could have hit $100 mil with a November release, but will probably get half that in it's current slot.

That was the first thing I thought as well. The holiday season is definitely prime for the picking.

True, plus it would have been nice to have another fantasy film be released this year.

I had really high hopes for this movie, but just by seeing the trailer, it looks like they changed a lot. There was nothing about The Wizard of Oz in the book at all (maybe its just because of Newline/Warner they added it.) Movies released at this time of the year generally do poorly unless they are doing it because they didn't think it would stand up to the competition of the Christmas releases. Cloverfield did fairly well, but it looks like they are just dumping this movie. I don't know how many times it has been delayed. I really had high hopes for City of Ember too. I didn't see it, but the DVD only comes out this week. I will probably buy that. I saw there would be a blu-ray version eleswhere, but that looks like it will be region coded.

I am with you on that, it look's just like my type of movie. I never read the books so I guess I might not be as disapointed as others (seem like they made a lot of changes) I got a day off next friday so I am planning to go see that and Underworld, a busy day for me

Ember was great! its a shame they didnt advertise it!

im getting the blu-ray even if i have to import a region locked one!

Inkheart looks good too, but they probably pushed it back fearing that Adam Sandlers film (which seems like its the same) would pull more of the audience when deciding between the two

Reading the book is almost always a sure-fire way to get disappointed. Tell us if you like it!

What's with all these movies based on books coming out at the same time? Harry Potter, Twilight, Inkheart...and the list goes on...

I was just watching National Velvet. Back then the commercials were all about how the movie was based on a book.

I've sene it today, was very good, for me anyway. Fun story with the type of elements I love seeing in a story. It should look stunning on BD I cannot wait.
