As I mentioned in the existing thread (two posts down as of this writing), this is from a company that only owns the rights in Japan so it probably doesn't have any bearing on releases in other territories.

Would that rule out the possibility of it being region free by any chance?

So far I don't think Geneon has region coded any of their Blu-ray releases, but I only know for sure about one of them (their one anime release, Perfect Blue). It's definitely region free according to a buyer in the UK. Best to wait until bluray.liesinc.net lists it or you hear from someone reliable on these boards or elsewhere, though.
