The DVD release had the head butts exchanged between Smith and Morpheus and Neo and Smith cut out (taking the directors commentary with it as it would have been out of sync) in favour of a 15's cert.
Its sad the Uk film board find headbutting somebody warrants an 18's cert but shooting them in the back of the head at point blank range (Trinity on the roof top after Neo almost gets killed) is just fine. Ive noticed a few people on Amazon got the UK version as it didnt include the Animatrix and was much cheaper, were the headbutt's cut out ?. thanks in advance, want the full version of the first movie and can live without the Animatrix and all those extras on Blu Ray, seeing as I already have them on DVD and am double dipping as it is. I was wondering that....i found this on lovefilm heres what they said about The Matrix
"CUTS: Dangerous fighting techniques (BBFC cuts - 15 cert required) - Numerous headbutts during fight sequences have been cut - mainly in a scene in which Neo and Agent Smith have a punch up. UNCUT DVD: Any Region but U.K. In 2006 the BBFC finally passed the film uncut, however i am unsure which U.K release is the uncut version. Sky movies, and Channel Five have shown the uncensored version on U.K t.v. The film is due for release on Blu-ray in the U.K, and will be uncut, as it will be the same transfer as the U.S one." http://www.lovefilm.com/community/vi...r_list_id=4285 |
