Default Soul Caliber 4 PS3 Fighting Stick?

Anyone have one? I just ordered one from Amazon. It got pretty good reviews. Couldn't find a post about it. Will post impressions when I get it around Wednesday next week.

Is it called Fighting Stick? I have no idea what you're talking about and would like to look it up.

Hori makes great arcade sticks with really good components, so it should work really well. Hori also makes the Fighting Stick 3, which is basically the only other PS3 fighting stick available in the US, and it's good too.

I have the Soul Calibur II stick from the PS2, and unfortunately, it doesn't work with PS3, even with the adapter. I've been seriously considering the Hori Soul Calibur stick you bought, but I want to make sure it's compatible with PS2 and PS1 games on PS3.

Can you test it with any PS2 or PS1 games during your review? It would really help clear up some confusion.

Thanks

According to Amazon.com reviews and other reviews I have read it is 100% backwards compatible with PS1/2 games on the PS3.

I'll post a full review when I receive the stick next week.

It's the same as the Hori Fighting Stick 3.

The only difference is that there is SC IV art on it. It's a good mid-grade stick. If you're more serious about your fighting/arcade games, you should look into getting a high quality stick. Look into getting a Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 (HRAP3). I got one about a month ago and it's unbelieveable. I also modded the balltop, and the buttons (Sanwa). Here are the before and after photos.

Stick also comes in Black or White

AFTER

Of if you can wait, I'd recommend waiting for the Street Fighter IV sticks coming out later in the year.

Fighting sticks are awesome fun.

But...

I'm concerned that we haven't seen Yoda yet.

I have this stick, and got it a couple weeks before SC4, I really like it. I didn't think I would, so that's something right there. It's awfully clicky, as in, makes audible noises from the micro-switches, and the buttons aren't that intuitively placed, they need to be angled appropriately. That's all I could really say about it that's negative. It seems quite sturdy, it's quick and responsive, and it's pretty comfortable. Good thing, as there are so many moves that just make sense and are so much easier to do with a stick. I played MK2 and Tekken 5HDR with it as well, and the stick worked great with both.

Oh, it's wired. You may need a USB extension cable for this. I did, and just used some electrical tape to keep them together. Works fine.

I'd almost buy a 2nd one, but I'm curious to see what comes out around the time of SF4 or Tekken 6. Well worth it, either way.

Isn't Madcatz making the SFIV stick? I don't really trust them.

Yes but it's being developed by a well known guy in the fighting game industry, MarkMan, who also runs SDTekken.com. Anyways, the guy owns like hundreds of arcade sticks and knows which one is best and what the best design is. He's been working directly with MadCatz to develop a stick of quality and of great design. I believe that even one of the sticks is supposed to have interchangeable artwork so you could put your very own art of your liking.

Where did you pick up the Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 Stick, and how much was it? Is that available officially in the US, or did you get it from Play-Asia.com or something? It's a really nice looking stick. Also, do you know when the SF IV sticks from Mad Catz are supposed to be released? I've had Mad Catz controllers before, I've never seen them release an arcade stick. I might wait for the Street Fighter sticks, but I'm inclined to trust Hori's expertise with them. The SC artwork on the sticks looks really good though.

I have one and it works well for me. Maybe I'm not "Hardcore" enough but I have no desire to spend 100+ on a stick.

play-asia sells the Real Pro. 129.99 I beleive. I may pick one up depending on the reviews the SFIV stick gets.

Which stick are you referring to thats over $100? I only see them listed for $50 or less.

The one on Amazon isn't the Pro model. I'm not sure of the exact specifications though.
