Default Getting the center speaker to fit

I have a 50" Panasonic plasma tv placed on top of a wood console and using the stand that came with the TV. As is, it lifts the TV up a few inches. In order to get the center speaker to be placed in front of the TV, I'll need to lift the TV about 5 inches. Otherwise the speaker will block the screen.

I do not want to mount the center above the TV and mounting the TV on the wall is not really an option either.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who experienced this problem. I'm looking for an inexpensive, yet nice looking way to lift my plasma a few inches. Any suggestions?

You may have to buy two of these to lift your TV.

How big is your centre? I had to lift mine about 2 inches and just used two mdf boards that I painted black. If indeed it is 5 inches I would agree with the previous post and say buy one of those stands and you should be good.

The center will be 8 inches tall. I think my best bet will be to go with a stand, but at that point I'd like to find one with an 8" clearance underneath so I can put the speaker directly under the TV. The trick is finding one that tall...

Why don't you want to mount the center above the set? I've got mine mounted on a self so it sits right above the set. From advice in this forum, I angled it down somewhat so the sound is being projected directly at the listening area. Not "ideal" but I didn't want my set any higher than it currently sits.

I went to home depot and got four black shelf boards, i put my tv on top of them and the center doesn't cover it anymore.

considering its a 50 inch, its gonna weigh a lot more than my current setup. id rather do what krypton did, and get a couple of MDF boards (some of em are possibly the same color as your current media stand, and just stack em up. remember to use some wood glue tho to keep em together. we want to keep it as stable as possible.
