Default Paramount / Dreamworks Rumored Titles For Nov Dec

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/rumormill.html#092208

9/22/08

Okay, folks... we've got word on more Blu-ray Disc titles and street dates from our retail sources, this time from Paramount and DreamWorks.

In terms of new release titles, Tropic Thunder is expected to be released sometime in November, followed by The Duchess, Ghost Town and Eagle Eye sometime in December. Our sources are currently telling us to expect Eagle Eye on 12/26 and Ghost Town on 12/30.

The great news, however, is that a TON of new catalog Blu-rays are expected to be released on 12/16, just before Christmas. Hot Rod, Old School and Into the Wild have already been announced for that date, and Tommy Boy, Coach Carter and Heartbreak Kid are expected that day as well. Better still, Event Horizon, The Truman Show, Ghost, Last Holiday and Days of Thunder are all expected to arrive in stores on 12/30.

More great Blu-ray titles are expected in January, including Dexter: The Complete First Season (for Showtime), the Braveheart: Special Collector's Edition, Election and Zodiac. Election has already been officially announced for release on 1/20, and we expect Braveheart that day as well.

As always, keep in mind that these titles and dates ARE unofficial and are subject to change until they're actually officially announced by the studios in press releases and retail solicitations.

Stay tuned!

Eagle Eye will have a theatrical window of exactly three months? That's... not very reassuring.

Lots of crowd pleasers here, but few titles worth collecting. The Truman Show and Braveheart are more interesting, while Zodiac is a film I can't wait to preorder, regardless of the price.

Still, January seems to be on the late side for it, I expected it to coincide with the Benjamin Button theatrical release. But with Fincher finally due some major award consideration, Zodiac on Blu-ray can only help his chances.

(Yeah, I consider David Fincher one of America's most important filmmakers of the past three decades. Ever since he did that faux-helicopter matte shot in Temple of Doom, in fact. And that George Michael video.)

Thanks for the scoop, Brad!

I think there are some excellet titles on that list. Zodiac and The Truman Show and I am happy to see Election is coming. Plus Tropic Thunder and perhaps Ghost Town. I was hoping for Zoolander to come out around the same time as Tropic Thunder.

I'm admittedly a little underwhelmed by the catalog titles, but I see multiple titles that have been requested MULTIPLE times by others.

Event Horizon is a definite buy for me. It's one of the very few movies that ever actually frightened me (though I was fairly young at the time).

Thanks Alan for a second I thought we had another insider. Braveheart is a must...Tropic Thunder is a strong possibility. Looking foward to some late Q4 announcements from Universal.

Nice. Can't wait to get Event Horizon and Braveheart. I'm happy with the Zodiac import but I may pick up the US release depending on how it is. I'll probably pick up The Truman Show as well but I'm not sure if it'll be a release-day purchase or not. Don't recognize some of the ones listed so I'll have to look those up to know if I want them or not.

Thanks for the source Alan Gordon.

I'm happy that Paramount is finally releasing some catalog titles. This isn't the greatest list ever, but, it's good enough, there are plenty of these that I will purchase immediately.

This list may not be good for most on this site but I will bet money that these titles will sell.
