Great story from yesterday's NY Post. Anyone want to comment?

Right now, the cheapest HD DVD players are selling for about $400 and 42-inch plasma TVs are $680 and up.

Wow, just wow. If it was a story about an obscure celebrity nobody's heard of there would be pictures and dating rumors but they can't do the research to realize blu-ray won the war a long time ago.

Isn't this the kind of reportage for which we've come to depend upon the Post?

i made a yawn as soon as i read the topic title but judging from what that guy was saying it almost sounds more like blu-ray not hd-dvd and if he means hd-dvd then is he talking about last year's Black Friday?

It's from yesterday's Post, and it includes the line "Right now, the cheapest HD DVD players are selling for about $400 and 42-inch plasma TVs are $680 and up." Definitely just a mistake, as I've read from other sites these predictions for this year's black Friday.

They probably pronounce it re-port-ˈtäzh at the Post.

Well, the bolded part is not true at all. Just a week ago, Buy.com had them for $60 along with the two free movies that came in the box!

I think this is just someone who has absolutely no idea what he is talking about.

well technically the blu ray players are hd (as in high def) dvd players. they do indeed playback hd content no?

i do not think he was meaning the HDDVD format which we all know is dead and burried. he just needs to brush up on his terminology

If it was a competent news writer, they would at least use the proper terminology.

Maybe he was when hw wrote the article. People like him were the ones spreading FUD during the format wars...mainly due to ignorance.

...but the cheapest Blu-ray players are in the $200's, not the $400's. He really needs to do his research before he posts.

Holly Blu-ray Disc Batman!

I kinda remember Blu-ray wining the war? I think that the evil ridler at it again! Or maybe Jaws, Quick Grab the conveniently labeled "Bat Shark Replant!"

But really maybe he should have done a little research first!

O well its kinda funny!
