Spoilers below.

Okay, I love this movie, but I got a big, big issue with its title: Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Now Close Encounters are broken down into 5 different Kinds.

Close Encounters of the First Kind: A Sighting of a UFO
Close Encounters of the Second Kind: A Sighting of a UFO and observing Physical Effects from a UFO
Close Encnouters of the Third Kind: Observation of "Beings"
Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind: Abduction
Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind: Volutary, bilateral communication with "Beings"

Now until the very end of the movie, no "Beings" were shown, so up until the final 10 minutes of the movie, the whole movie was comprised of Close Encounters of the First Kind, Close Encounters of the Second Kind and one instance of Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind.

Now when we finally do see a "being", we have voluntarly communication via music with these beings, which is an example of Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind.

So throughout the entire movie, we have every single type of encounter with Extraterrestrial life, except for that of the Third Kind. So why is the movie called Close Encounters of the Third Kind???
