Default Warner Awards Blu to The Dark Knight

Washington, D.C. (September 26, 2008) -- Warner Bros. is offering Academy Awards screeners an opportunity to see The Dark Knight on Blu-ray high-def disc, an Oscar first.

That's according to an article by The Hollywood Reporter.

Normally, studios issue watermarked standard-def DVDs so Academy members can review films prior to making their Oscar nominations. But Warner recently alerted members that a Blu-ray disc of The Dark Knight would be available for their consideration.

The Oscar screenings begin in November, the voting members must return their ballots in December and the nominees are announced @ 5:30am on Jan 22. Often some movies are already out in home video, so this is great news that the members will see TDK in the best format available - and before its released!
