Well, I for one am all-in! Granted, it will be a while before this will be a reality (in my lifetime will more-than-likely mean in my 90's), but I'm sure my 3-D 4K 120" display will still be keeping me happy well into my twilight years. Now, if they can just make a 3-D 4K 120" display for under $500...

I have a vivid memory of watching the news in 1981 (right before seeing the first episode of Entertainment Tonight with the A Flock Of Seagulls video I Ran closing the show). The final piece in the newscast was a bit on how by the end of the decade (the 80's) holographic t.v. would be commonplace. The newscasters were talking about how cool it would be to be sitting in the middle of everyone's living rooms.

I've been waiting for Holographic T.V. for 17 years now.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I waited for HDTV since 1985 when I first heard about it. If anything, this technology will see the light of day at theme parks such as Disney, Six Flags, etc.

Remember back in '82-'83(ish) there was a cartoon called Thundar the Barbarian?

It took place in post apocolyptic society...deep in the future...in....1994.

I do remember that game and as soon as the OP started talking about it, thats the first image that popped into my head. It was cool for way back in the 80's!!! I must have wasted a ton of money on that game. LOL

I recall actually laying hand on one of those Sega hologram units. I don't think it was working at the time. I just remember it was weird looking and I couldn't discern where to the picture would be.

I thought we'd all be driving flying cars and the ozone layer would be destroyed and the planet would be suffering from the greenhouse effect ala Blade Runner. Guess not.

The world will have changed in many other ways in 2020. Most of it forced on us. The way we breed, the way we throw away things. You think landfills are going to be happy about storing 3 billion LCD and Plasmas?

Well personally I think technology is moving too fast these days and we should be happy with what we have.

Default Recycling only slows the problem, doesn't solve it.

In the "Lost in Space" movie there was a line about every third grader knows that recycling will save the planet.

The problem with recycling is not everything produced can be recycled, reduced, or reused. Of all the recycling content produced only a small portion of it is being recycled. Much of it is still in landfills for the next thousand years.

Do you throw your old toothbrush in the trash or the recycle bin? Will the recycle people even take it? If they take it, does it get recycled or sorted out and trashed anyway? That is a LOT of plastic and nylon ending up in landfills every year.
