Question Sony 46XBR6 vs 46Z4100

I have narrowed my choices down to these two units as I need the thin bezel design. What I just can't seem to find is what the differences between these two are. Is the XBR going to really be worth the price difference? Thanks for any insights

What type of content do you watch? Any sports or action films?

Default Xbr Rules!!!

While the Z4100 is an excellent set, my argument will always end with some version of the XBR TV's. The Z is a very nice looking picture, but because of its slimline depth, it has a completely different electronic workup than the XBR6. One thing I notice on my sales floor is that the viewing angles of the Z are dogmeat...they suck. I always believe there is none better than the XBR, but if you decide the route of the Z, consider this...buy the extended warranty on it because Sony has never endeavored to make a panel so slim.

Thanks for the quick replies. We tend to watch some tv, some sports and we love our blu-rays! I have a BD player and a collection of films, but have been saving for the right tv. That is good to know about the viewing angle. I have always thought the XBR's were the way to go, but wasn't sure if the Z series had the right stuff. I was at Best Buy the other day and they had just put up the 46XBR6 and it looked nice, just want to see a BD running on it though.

Then stay far away from any LCD. If you need a thin bezel then go with plasma. It will suit all your needs and you won't have to worry about LCD motion blur. All LCD's suffer from motion blur to some degree.

Viewing angle is dogmeat on the 46z4100? Are you looking at the same set I am looking at? As I type this I am almost at 90 degrees from my TV and it looks just as good as sitting in front of it. Why is it that when anyone ask for advice on this site they are told to get the most exspensive one. I looked at several TV's before getting this z4100, the XBR's included. To my eye the XBR sets are not worth the extra $$. Do you make more money on your sales floor selling the XBR's? Not worth the extra money IMO.
