Issues: WinDVD patch DVD9.0.14.91_63207_Plus_iUpgrade

The DVD9.0.14.91_63207_Plus_iUpgrade breaks WinDVD9 on my system.

After some painful testing here are my results:

Before DVD9.0.14.91_63207_Plus_iUpgrade patch:

Blue Planet Blu-ray .... plays
Planet Earth Blu-ray .... plays
The Host HD-DVD .... plays
Jumper Blu-ray .... plays
Boleyn Sister Blu-ray ...... plays

After DVD9.0.14.91_63207_Plus_iUpgrade patch:

Blue Planet Blu-ray .... plays
Planet Earth Blu-ray .... plays
The Host HD-DVD .... crashes WinDVD
Jumper Blu-ray .... not tested
Boleyn Sister Blu-ray ...... doesn't play, just stops with no crash or error


IMO, the patch has issues and shouldn't be used as it definately breaks some HD-DVD and Blu-ray on my system in a completely repeatable way.

Here is my specs:

E6750 Core2 with 2GB
Nvidia 8800GTS (the update was supposed to improve compatibility)
LG GCC-H20L
Auzentech Meridian Sound

From the OP

Swapped out my Asus 8800GTS 320 for a BFG8800GT 512 and this issue vanished. Patch works perfectly.

Same system, same software, same driver version

Looks like an hardware issue with the GTS 320, but since I didn't try installing this card in a different slot it still could be a PNP issue uncovered by the patch. Unlikely though.
