Default Speaker Crossover 21 Capacitor Review

I use Realistic Super Tweeters to help with top-end frequency extension, and they blend really well with the ribbon tweeters of my Auras. I use the super tweeters in my front channels of the home theater system and also have them in my two-channel system.

I'm about to replace and upgrade the internal crossovers of the tweets, so I've been researching capacitors to see which ones I want to run with this time for my crossovers. I'm using the DIY Audio website super tweeter guide as my template.

http://diyaudioprojects.com/Drivers/40-1310/40-1310.htm

I wanted to find the best capacitors I could in order to maintain as much detail as I could without introducing discoloration to the tweeters. While searching around, I came across a shootout review of 21 capacitors that I thought a few of you might be interested in. Here it is:

Whether you're using vintage speakers, like I am, or even if your speakers are not that old, there is room for improvement in sound by upgrading your crossovers. It becomes a necessity as speakers age, because capacitors and resistors can stray from their original tolerances over time, even wearing out completely, and that will directly affect the quality of sound reproduced.

Anyway, I thought some of you might be interested in this. Parts Express carries Jantzen Audio Caps, which rated highly in the evaluation, so I'm going to order the parts I need today. Once I complete the project, I'll let you know how it turns out. After I'm done with this one, I'm going to check out the crossovers in my main loudspeakers to see if there's any room for improvement.

I love that website and plan to in the future at some point do a few mods on some of older equipment I have in the closet. I figure if I mess it up it won't be a big deal.

Good luck on the X-over project!!!
