Default Samsung Touch of Color Plasma good choice?

Hello, I just purchased a Samsung 58" Touch of Color Plasma HDTV (model PN58A650). I still have not recieved it since I placed my order this past tuesday (oct 7th) but I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with this model. I did my research for a good long time (about 1 year) before settling on this HDTV by Samsung. What attracted me was the depth of realism I could see from blu-ray movies, the deep blacks and the amazing sharpness of the picture (even on fast moving images). Another deciding factor was the price. I found it online for $2,599 and $90 white glove delivery which no electronics retailers even discount store clubs could beat. Now I can give my 32" Sharp LCD Aquos HDTV a bit of a rest since I have been using it for the past 3 years and I knew it was time to upgrade to a bigger screen size. So any comments, criticism, pointers or tips or things to look out for on this HDTV would be appreciated. thanks, Spyder-Dan

I've seen burn in (or at least really really bad image retention) on samsung plasmas at work, just from the little channel logo on the bottom corner of the screen, when I noticed it I set all the plasmas to their burn correction settings, only to find the pannys had no burn in! the samsungs stayed on scrolling and white screen for 3 days straight before it became hard to see the burn in

If your a review kind of person, cnet has that(samsung) rated better than the 85u panasonic but the 800u and 850's blow it out of the water. Best bet is the do what everyone says and get the Panny over the Sammy or goes balls deep and get a pioneer.

P.S. If you're set on the swivel Samsung has, the 800u and 850u panasonics swivel too. Watch the vids for proof.

I had a samsung plasma (A550) before I returned it for my panny. But your tv is great, it is highly rated everywhere. Just be sure to do the proper plasma break in, and do an extensive check on every feature, including the remote before the 30 day return period is up. Good luck!

If you plan calibration by professional, 85u. If you dont, 800u in THX mode.

The Sammy aint bad, I just prefer the customer service and reliability of Panny.

i have nothing good to say about samsung after they screwed me over! i have a panny plasma and love it! you should go panny plasma, but if not, enjoy your sammy!

just hope nothing goes wrong with it and that you do not need sammy to stand behind their product, because believe me....they won't, and they will leave you high and dry!

I love my Samsung plasma and haven't had any problems with it in the 11 months I have had it. I think the PQ is awesome.

However, after my experiences with the infamous BD-P1200, stay away from their players...

I have the 50 inch a550 from sammy and I have no complaints, I got a smoken deal on it. Just break it in properly and you should be a happy camper. I have no image retention problems or burn in on my set.

I have this years sammy plasma model, i can't remmeber which one exactly but it does get image retention really easy, but it goes away fast with scrolling. I only use my plasma for movies though so i don't care about image retention at all.

The 08 Pannys get it fast too. It also goes away quickly.
