Default Is Daredevil worth a blind-buy?

I am a huge comic book/superhero movie fan who loves both Marvel and DC. I was fortunate enough to see most of the modern Marvel movies in theaters since X-MEN, however there were a few films that had previously escaped me. I never saw Daredevil, just because I never cared or knew alot about the character, and the terrible reviews have kept me away. I never even saw it on TV, since I can't stand commercials. Now, I'm trying to build a Marvel/DC BD collection, and I'm considering picking this up for a decent price.

I'm not too big a comic movie snob, as I enjoy them as fun, simple entertainment. I even loved both FANTASTIC OUR movies and enjoyed SPIDER-MAN 3 and GHOST RIDER for what they were.

Should I go ahead and grab DAREDEVIL?

I dont want to be too negative but I can't help in saying I wouldn't recommend spending any money earned, given or found on this pile of garbage movie.. Not even to my worst enemies... its just that bad imo.

After reading your post, I would have to say yes. Get it. If you can tolerate Ben Affleck in his movies, then you'll like Daredevil. You already stated your a fan of the genre, and that you don't take them seriously. The Director's Cut (which is on blu) is much better than the theatrical version. You will be happy with the purchase (and even happier if you find it for a good price).

If still in doubt. Rent.

This may be self-contradicting but although I find Ben Affleck to be one of the most annoying actors, I still really liked this movie and he wasn't bad in it. Someone like you would not be disappointed.

No. This movie is definitely not worth a blind buy. But that's just my opinion. There are a few interesting scenes, but I'd definitely rent it over purchasing it.

EDIT: Wait. If you actually could stomach/tolerate Ghost Rider, which I thought was so painful that I had to cut off midway, then you probably would enjoy Daredevil. I at least could get through that one so maybe it would be worth your money.

Yes. The Directors Cut is worth your money. Its superior to the general release. Go for it.

I bought it. It's not great, but it's not that bad either. The extended directors cut makes it better in my opinion. There have definitely been worse super hero movies. Elektra for one, Fantastic Four 1 & 2 weren't too good, the Spiderman trilogy was not great in my opinion. Oh yeah how could I forget the terrible Ghost Rider. I thought it Daredevil was enjoyable enough. Worth a blind buy.

I'd wait till the blu-ray is below $15. If you are a marvel nut, daredevil is worth a watch. I can see why a lot of people didn't like it though. Daredevil was made in a campy style like the old Batmans were. At first I didn't like the batman movies. Until Warner brothers changed the batman franchise to a darker edge as seen in Batman Begins and DArk knight which are fantastic.

Daredevil is campy, but it needs to be revamped to a model similar to the Frank Miller's style of writing or like the Dark Knight.

This is one of the worst movies ever made. Right up there with the Mummy 3.

I dont and never will understand the hate for this movie.

I love it and quite frankly I feel is one of the best superhero movies.
There are a few "modernized" and I feel intentional cliches with the King Pin & Bullseye, but the film works and its fun.

A guy named bullseye is recommending Daredevil. Isn't that like a guy named Tony Montana recommending Scarface?

It's not a movie that I would buy, but I didn't think it was that bad, either. You're collecting Marvel movies on BD, this is definitely worth picking up for at least that reason. I'm intrigued by this "Director's Cut" mentioned. Maybe I'll rent it some time again.

It's a decently enjoyable movie. I haven't seen it in a while, but I didn't think it was nearly as terrible as most people imply.

Even if you don't like it too much, you may still want it to go with your collection.

i too am a big marvel fan, but i'm a big movie buff and kind of demand a lot from movies. the fantastic fours weren't bad, but i absolutely despise ghost rider, and spiderman 3 wasn't much better. i also didn't like daredevil at all because it falls in the same category. but yes, if you liked those that i mentioned, than you will like this movie.

its pretty cheezy but it's not the worst movie ever. just don't see elektra if you havent already
