Next-gen newcomer Tokyo Shock has announced their debut Blu-ray release, setting a late-January date for the martial arts actioner 'Death Trance.'

One of the leading distributors of Asian cinema on DVD, Tokyo Shock will kick-off its Blu-ray support on January 27 when it releases the Tak Sakaguchi-starrer.

Due to the early announcement, Tokyo Shock has yet to confirm final tech specs or supplement details, but we'll keep you posted.

Suggested retail price has been set at $24.95.

You'll find the latest specs for 'Death Trance' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under January 27.
First movie to be released by Tokyo Shock on Blu!!! Woo hoo...maybe we will be seeing Ichi the Killer soon!!

$24.95...not a bad price. I'll get it when it comes out.

The review sounds like it was done by someone who just does not get it.
Talking about how he had hopes for blah blah asian cinema.
Tak's movies are for fun and gore, I can only pray that we get Versus on blu soon.
This is a really fun movie, with some great moments and some odd moments and for the price is a great pick up if you like fun gorey action with style.

Different people, different tastes, different opinions. I never pin my blindbuy purchases on one single review. For Death Trance, I placed a preorder since I knew what I could expect from it and aside from some PQ quibles, I'm not disappointed.

This one seems to give a better score to Death Trance:

I like the movie but 2.5 is very generous for the picture quality and a big letdown on Blu-Ray IMO.

I hope this isn't a sign of what Ichi the Killer will look like on Blu-ray.

Now if only Media Blasters would get cracking on some Shriek Show titles involving zombies.

Shriek Show did release 2 of their own productions, bot lacking severly in PQ. Media Blasters really have a bad track record regarding their BD releases.

Yeah, Flesh for the Beast and Dead Riot, I have them, I wasn't impressed at all.

They'll probably get better as soon as they actually start releasing it's anime series on Blu-ray.
