Default Quick?

Anybody have their PS3 hooked-up via Component Cables? If you're wondering why i am asking, it's because i am having some issues with Video quality through my receiver. Can someone tell if there a Big Video Drop off using Components?

The only difference is between 1080i vs 1080p.

Does your receiver have HDMI input?

Yeah it does mike but i was playing a 1080i PS3 Game that did not look good at all that good via HDMI. I am just thinking to try Components to see if things smooths out a bit. I don't have a problem with Bluray Movies as they look Jaw Dropping.

You won't see an upgraded difference if you switch. I recommend sticking with HDMI for video and audio. I can tell you that it sounds way better on HDMI compared to Optical.

What you can try is putting your video setting on your PS3 to 720p and see if it looks better.

Mike i have one of those old 1080i sets which does not have 720p option. But it does scale ABC HD - Fox HD and ESPN HD very good and those are 720p Broadcast stations. I am almost tempted to get a X Box 360 now because of their output scaler. Mike where in the PS3 settings can i set it to 720p? maybe the PS3 will do some kind of override.

The Video out name got changed 2 days ago with the up date. Set it to automatic and it will detect your TV's max resoluiton. You can still connect you video using componet and audio using HDMI. Set your audio out to HDMI and Video out to componet.

In Video options where you select which connection, you unselect 1080i and only leave 720p available.

It wont look quite as good as 1080p but you dont have a choice since your tv does not do P.

No, i have not played on a 1080i. But, with 1080i you will get full screen where 720p will lose picture size.
