Looking to buy a Blue Ray Player, couple questions? - Blu-ray Forum

what do you guys think of this one, or should i just shell out another 100 for a ps3.

How is the ps3's blue ray drive, any significant difference.
Lastly those who watch movie on hbo or stars in hd, does that resemble what it will be like watching a movie in blue ray?

I recommend you to buy a PS3.if you can afford $100 more do it and you will be happy for several reasons.

First : As a blu-ray player its a fabulous machine

second: its a DVD player and multimedia device

Third: it is a game console

Unless you care about more advance Blu-ray player from Sony,Panasonic or Pioneer elite which will cost you around $1500 These Blu-ray player only advantage over PS3 is you can get PCM soundtrack because does included analog output and its the only way to get PCM Soundtrack until we have new receivers can accept lossless sound through HDMI connection.the other advantage is the output of 1080P/24 which can be a little improve in PQ.But this last option is going to let you buy an expensive LCD Or Plasma

Welcome to the blu! Well that's not a bad price at all... (and just a little FYI, the 20 Gb model of the PS3 costs $499) I recommend you read this article!

HD channel quality is nice. However, the pq/aq of blu ray films like Casino Royale and Kingdom of Heaven are untouchable.

Or wait a few weeks. The new improved Sammy will be out and should push prices of the old Sammy down even further. The new Sammy is cheaper than the old Sammy but at release price - not the discounted prices. I personally can't make any comment on the PS3 as a Blu-ray player yet (4 days 14hrs to go - I'm not counting, Sony is doing that for me - http://au.playstation.com/) but will soon.
