The Strangers playback problems - Blu-ray Forum

I am having problems playing this in my PS3. I bought the blu-ray through amazon, and when I played it in my PS3 last night I could hear all the sound effects but when they were talking I couldn't here there voices. So my girlfriend calls her mom and she happened to rent the dvd, so we go get the dvd and try it in the PS3 and the same thing happens. So then I put the dvd in the dvd player in the other room and all the audio is fine. Any help would be appreciated.

This used to happen to me with my old bose 321 system. Never had the problem with the PS3 though. I used to just have to power off the system, unplug it, and plug it back in and it would work fine after that. Not sure if this will work, but it's worth a try.

Is your center channel speaker working properly? You need to describe your set-up in more detail.

every other movie I put in the PS3 has worked fine. I am just running the audio through the tv via hdmi till my new speakers come in. I am not even using the a/v reciever right now. hooked up hdmi direct from PS3 to tv.

Might be your setting this movie is in DTS-HD. Since running the sound through your TV may switch the setting to just play in Dolby Stereo or one of the other selections so it plays correctly through TV speakers. You are probably just getting L & R discreetly due to the DTS track.

Yea but the dvd version I also tried wouldn't have a dts-hd track, so I am still wondering. I am gonna install the latest firmware on my ps3 tonight and see if that helps.
