Default BDP-S550 Setup with my receiver

I just got the BDP-S550 and I’m liking it so far, but I want to make sure I have everything setup correctly. My receiver is a Sony STR-DE997, which doesn't do any HD decoding, so I'm relying on my player for that.

Here's what I've done on my player:

Audio Output Priority: Multi Channel Analog

BD Audio Setting: Direct

Audio TT: Off

Dolby Digital: Downmix PCM

DTS: Downmix PCM

Audio DRC: Wide Range

On my receiver, the only thing I can see to do is select Multi CH In/Direct.

I've never used analog for surround sound before, so I'm defiantly ignorant. I've noticed I have to turn up the volume when using analog vs optical. Is there any way to know if what I'm hearing is Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD or just louder volume because I've had to crank up my receiver?

Thank you for any help anyone can provide.

Well first off you need to turn off the DRC. It will significantly lower the volume and make soundtracks on Dolby True HD blu-rays. Also There should be a status button, or display, or info button that you should be able to press and it will show you what the audio and video is playing at. But someone with the S550 might be able to shine more light on that area.
