PS3, Blu-Ray Movies Static Issue...? - Blu-ray Forum

Hey guys, Just joined the site

So iv had my PS3 since launch and iv always had this issue but never got around to doing anything about it. So when i go to watch a blu-ray movie i always get like a short second or two static screen. i have recorded it and you can check it out here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=R6icRrfSeUg

Its just annoying really, it happens with every movie i have before it starts but it never appears again through out any of the rest of the movie.

Any advice?

I have the exact same problem. I never had that happen to me until I got my current receiver. Its a Sony DA5300ES. Never figured out a solution.

THERE IS NO PROBLEM.

The "static" happens because the PS3 is changing resolutions; it happens EVEN when it changes from 1080p (the XMB) to 1080p (BD video). It's up to your TV to decide whether to show the static screen or not.

As to GGX's problem, it must be how the receiver is handling video over HDMI. But essentially it is the same thing.

Thanks for your reply, So it may sound like a stupid question but is there any setting you can change to stop it from happening? My TV is the Samsung LE40M87BDX if it helps

There is no setting you can use to stop it since the PS3 outputs 480p all the way through 1080p. You can get a new TV, which will MINIMIZE, the appearance of static but the changing of resolutions will still be there.
