Ok I've never set up a home theatre for so not sure if I'm doing it wrong or what but I don't feel my subs. I put my hand on it to see if there were any vibrations but I don't feel anything. I can feel a bit of rumble from my front speakers. I tested it with The Rock and Transformers bluray.
I connected it with a subwoofer cable using LFE. One from my subwoofer to my reciever. I used the section where it says DVD and all that stuff. There is another input that says "Preout" for the subwoofer. I'm not too sure what that is for. I got Polk Monitor 50's for my fronts. In my reciever it set my frequency to 80hz. When I went to go test the sounds in the sound calibration, I can hear my fronts but nothing comes out of my subs. Must be something I'm doing wrong? PS: PS3 is my bluray player. Do I have to set something in it for the subs to work? Last edited by Anhslaught; 10-27-2008 at 01:59 AM. |

You need to have the subwoofer plugged into that output

Its connected. I just felt the speaker side of the woofer itself and I feel vibration, its just wweeeaaak. I don't understand the dial up in the back either.
Has a thing that says Low Pass 110hz and 60hz 160hz dial but it doesn't seem to do anything. I increased the volume on the thing, didn't seem to do anything. |

I plugged it in the wrong output in these 2 pictures, but I changed it over to the one right next to it which is the subwoofer.
![]() ![]() I plugged it in the LFE here. ![]() I'm not sure if these are right but just making sure. In the back, there's a dial. And the volume control. I don't know how high my volume is or how low it is because there's no indicator. As for the dial... I assume thats the crossover frequency dial. I don't know which is high or low, its kind of wierd the way its written on there. Top is high bottom is low?? I got a Polk Monitor 50 for my fronts. I had it set at 80hz but since I think these speakers have weak bass, I set it up to 100hz. So is this also a crossover frequency? It will override the dial I got on the subwoofer? As for small or large, I don't see anything in my reciever that has that. I have my sub set to YES which is on. When I ran the calibration, I can only hear my fronts, nothing comes out of my sub. I'm suppose to hear bass or vibration right? Thanks Sorry for being a noob. ![]() |

If nothing else works, run two set of ordinary speaker wires from the Front Right and Front Left outputs of your receiver to the Front Right and Left IN of the subwoofer and see if it works. It is not the ideal hookup, but this is for testing.
If the sub still does not work, you may have a defective sub. Call Polk or the dealer you bought the sub from. EDIT: For this hookup to work, you need to set the front speakers to large or set the crossover frequency in the receiver to the lowest value. I am surprised that you said your receiver does not have an option to set the sizes of your speakers. Usually, this option is under the manual audio setup. The blue light on the front of the sub is the indicator of what the volume is at. For instance if you press the volume button up, and it blinks once and then 5 fast blinks its volume is at 1.5
Read the instruction manual for the sub, how fast and how many times the blue light blinks on the front indicates what operation you are doing. Last edited by DBlackGT; 10-27-2008 at 04:19 AM. |

The power switch next to the volume says StandBy, Auto, On.
Auto is for when everytime it senses an audio signal. That's what I have it set as. Standby allows you to use the power button on the remote to the sub on and off. IF its on, it will stay on regardless whether it recievers signal or not. On, is always on and active. ---- It does have a remote, and I clicked reset, not sure if it does anything. TO me, its kind of useless right now since there's no indication if its working or not working. At least to me. I will try the speaker wire test tomorrow. Gotta sleep soon. ![]() EDIT: Just saw DBlackGT's post. Ill look for that volume section. I played with it and noticed it blinking. Last edited by Anhslaught; 10-27-2008 at 04:18 AM. |

I'll try "ON" for testing tomorrow. I don't got extra speaker cables at the moment. I'm going to also try switching over to L line in tomorrow also.
I have the sub on "Auto" right now. It has been on Auto. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Low Pass Filter Control does not work if I'm connected through LFE input. So now I know I don't have to worry about that dial. I just read about the blue light volume blinking. Long list of blinks. I'm going to get a seizure trying to count it.lol Anyhow here's the diagram of my reciever. ![]() Right now I'm connected to the left one. I had it on preout earlier, but I changed. Will change back to Preout. Sub connected to LFE. Reciever Connected to Subwoofer Preout. My volume is now at 30. Not sure if thats too high or not, but its more than half way up. 3 long blinks, 0 short blinks. Last edited by Anhslaught; 10-27-2008 at 05:01 AM. |

And yes if you have it on the left one it is pn the wrong one. That is for multichannel in not out. You should have it on the subwoofer pre-out one(#25 on the diagram) Also check the setting "Level Calibration" on the speaker setup menu. When I ran the Auto calibration on my Onkyo it put my sub at -10. Put it at 0 and go from there. If all else fails the only way to check to make sure its not something in your receiver is hookup like a cd player, dvd player, etc anything with a red and white rca output directly to the subwoofers input. If you hear music (mostly bass) then you know you have something setup wrong on your receiver. And vice versa. Last edited by DBlackGT; 10-27-2008 at 06:09 AM. |
