Default Looking for some front floor standing speakers

Was wondering if anyone could make a kind suggestion as to what some good floorstanding front speakers are. I am looking at the Mirage Ominstats v2 FS. Anyone have any experience with them? What are some characteristics that I should be paying attention to?

Many thanks!

Hi finster
I have these speakers and I'm very satisfied with them. Great sound for both Blu-rays and music. You will need a sub as they need some low end help, but you'll probably want a sub with any setup you decide on anyway. Here is a review link that I felt is pretty right on:

What kind of amp/receiver are you going to be driving them with? I noticed they have a 4ohm impedence. (May be an issue with some receivers?) Also, their sensitivity is "only" 85.5dB, which is kind of low. They're going to require a little more power.

Outside of that, I hear people say the omni's give a great, open-stage sound. Have never used them myself.

Just for clarification only, my "owner's manual" gives the impedance as "8-ohm nominal, 4-ohm min".
Good point about the sensitivity, but I've had no probs driving them with a STRDG 820.

I have 2 definitive Mythos Four and they are very good. I am currently using the STRDG 720 and they work really good in my basement.

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't quite sure when I posted that.

My only point with the sensitivity is that if you mix with other speakers you may have to play with the levels or have to deal with uneven speaker levels. Either way though as long as you're aware of the factors I don't see them as a bad purchase (having not heard them).

Good point and you're right on, as usual. I was able to find the same model center channel at Best Buy, on sale .

How much are you looking to spend. You can try out the definitve technology BP7006 they are a nice size and have own powered subs and go low so an Extra sub is optional. You can pick them up for 600.00 each

Mirage speakers sound very different from conventional speakers. I would recommend a lengthy audition before deciding.
