Default VHS outlasts HD DVD!

JVC announced today that their last standalone VHS player has rolled of the production line. This is a full eight months after Toshiba stopped all HD DVD standalone production!

No duh, seeing that VHS has been around for 30 years now. But it is funny that in HD DVD's timespan, VHS was still being produced.

I am very glad I never spent one cent on HD DVD products. I still have loads of VHS tapes that I haven't watched in years though.

Sony should release a limited-edition home Beta deck just for fun. Pro Beta decks are still being made; most are multi-format recorders (Beta, DigiBeta and BetaHD).

That's an outstanding run.

Quote this for history:

VHS has been around 32 years. I don't believe any current format will come close to that, perhaps DVD.

So 3 years later, a Magnavox MBP110V/F7 Blu-Ray/VHS Player Combo
is available from http://www.langtoninfo.co.uk/showite...193307&loc=AUD

So VHS still Lives

Same here except I have not owned a VHS tape since 1998.

Still glad every day that we didn't get "stuck" with the inferior format that was HD DVD.

VHS is sooo superior to Blu-ray. I mean, the picture is soooo good on VHS that our minds can't comprehend the beauty it looks bad. It's like how Mona LISA has the "perfect" face but is quite ugly.

I really need to toss my VHS tapes..most are all deteriorated anyway. My copy of Jurassic Park fell apart because I watched it so many times.
