Quantum of Solace Blu-ray - man I can't wait!

Just got back from seeing QOS at the Odeon Leicester Square in London (in my opinion THE best cinema in the world). OMG what a film, action-packed all the way with great effects. Wasn't too sure on the new theme tune though but I think it'll grow on me. Although the movie is nowhere near as good as Casino Royale it's still a great action movie and will be a 'definite' addition to my Blu-Ray collection when released!

I'm sure it will look great on BD, however, the movie itself is getting mixed reviews and appears to be settling in the middle of the pack of Bond movies. Wrong direction in my opinion. As you mentioned, the consensus is that Quantum is not in the same league as Casino Royale, so if people go in with those expectation, they'll be disappointed. Quantum is also quite short -- coming in at just over 1.5 hours. Personally, I like my Bond movies to be at least 2 hours 15 minutes in order to build the story and characters. This installment feels like just a mediocre "carry-over" from Casino Royale and not a fully built Bond movie.

I will see it Wednesday at the UGC in Brussels in the Eldorado theater (in my opinion the nicest theater room in the world) and if it's anything like Casino Royale, I'll be having a good evening. Also in London cinema tickets must be horribly expensive whereas over here it's horribly cheap

I saw Quantum Of Solace yesterday (Friday) and it really is tremendous. A completely different tone to Casino Royale even though it is a direct continuation. It's brutal!

On a technical level, boy there are a LOT of uniquely styled subtitles in this movie. Woe betide Sony if they decide to replace them with player-generated captions when the DVD/BD comes out!!

Movie is great, but is getting mixed reviews because it's just so different from other older Bond movies. That's not a bad thing to me.

The movie is 1 hour 45 minutes, not an hour and a half. It is no more different than Casino Royale is different from the other Bond films. They kept the reboot and went running with it. Sometime today I'll write and post a review on my blog.

I'm looking forward to the blu ray release of this as well, but mostly because I have a feeling that it will be accompanied by the blu ray releases of more classic Bond films (particularly Goldfinger).

Nice, good to hear so far you all have liked it. Never been too big a Bond fan but saw Casino Royale and bought the Blu-ray as it was excellent.

Agreed. Based om what I know of it, it seems to be a Casino Royal part 2. Essentially it's a sequel.

but in all honesty it seems like Clive Owens "The International" has more of a James Bond storyline... basing it on trailers here
