Pirates 4 casting news (spoiler warning) - Blu-ray Forum

Not sure how much of a spoiler this might be so I put it in the title. Looks like they are about to cast Jack Sparrow's younger brother. This guy was a riot in Sarah Marshall, but I'm not sure he's the guy for this. Here's the news:

Russell Brand left Britain in disgrace, but less than a week after resigning from his BBC Radio 2 show his career appears to have recovered.

Brand is reportedly thrashing out a deal to appear in the fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean film - as Captain Jack Sparrow's younger brother Jonathan. The deal to appear in the children's film could be worth as much as £5million and would catapault the 33-year-old into the Hollywood A-list.

A source told The Sun: 'There couldn't be a role more perfectly suited. There's a lot of Jack Sparrow in his mannerisms and behaviour. Depp's accent isn't a million miles away from Russell's either.'

i just might skip potc 4 if this douche is in it... even though the pirates trilogy is in my top 5 greatest movies of all time!

Just like Depp was born to play Sparrow, I think Brand is a perfect choice to play his brother. Both onscreen together could be pretty funny.

Wow, you guys really don't think he'd be good? I do. He was hysterical in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. And I think he and Depp onscreen would be awesome. They'd have great chemistry and be totally believable as brothers.

While I think this movie shouldn't be made, I do agree that Brand would be dead on for Jack Sparrow's younger brother. The guy wouldn't even have to act and he would nail it.

If they have to make a fourth..............just bring back the original Actors! i like the 3rd one just because of kera knightly scene with the weapon frisk. lol

I think a fourth one should be with JD and Geoffrey Rush only, let's have a story only with Sparrow and Barbossa, they made the 3 movies anyway..

Isn't it suppose to be that way anyway? Rush and Depp are the only one interested into a 4th movie. Keira and Bloom said a couple time that they are over with those kind of movie

Which is exactly why bringing in someone for his brother makes perfect sense. Keeps it all about Sparrow. You need to have some supporting characters.
